Welcome to my webpage!  This website is dedicated to my freelance work and gives information about the various projects, training and consultancy I can offer.

I am a dementia specialist.  I am deeply passionate about person centred care and am an advocate for good, effective practice.  I promote empathetic, compassionate care, my ethos is that knowledge and understanding must be shared and have a lasting impact on those living with dementia.

I have a solid academic background having completed my PhD in 2015.  I am an excellent facilitator and offer training on a range of dementia related topics.  I am always happy to tailor training packages to meet specific needs so please do get in touch with your requirements.

I have been really fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work in a range of settings with people with dementia – in the community, in hospital and in care homes.  I use these experiences to tailor my own teaching and learning.

As dementia can affect people in all aspects of their lives – socially, emotionally, legally, financially – I keep abreast of current service provision and local authority statutory obligation.  All too often carers and people who need support are kept in the dark as to what is available so I gather as much information and resources as possible to share.

I am particularly interested in the legal frameworks around dementia such as the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.  I tend to specialise in the more contentious issues around dementia such as sexuality, intimacy and relational needs, advance decision making and end of life care.  I think these are important conversations to have and I seek ways to ensure that the person with dementia is heard.
